Wellness

At Waukesha Family Medicine Residency, it is our priority to train residents to become the best possible family physicians. Part of that training is to learn how to balance the responsibilities of residency with the values of your family, friends, and personal well-being.

We know that wellness and thriving can only be achieved through a combination of personal and systemic initiatives. That’s why we have built the following structure into the program to support a culture of wellness in the residency.

Flexible scheduling

  • Annual block schedule (July through June) published in May, allowing for non-work activities to be planned and arranged in advance

  • Every block has 1-2 flexible half-days for completing administrative tasks, scheduling medical/mental health appointments, or taking care of other personal needs

Access to healthy options

Longitudinal wellness curriculum

  • Monthly confidential intern support group

  • Monthly “inbox support group” for PG2’s and PG3’s to support EHR efficiency

  • Periodic quantitative and qualitative “check-in” assessments
